Hunting camps leave from the
Lakeland Motel in Pasadena, Newfoundland.
Transportation by float plane and boat to a variety of lake
shore locations, allows easy access to prime hunting
locations. This allows us to cover large areas without
excessive amounts of walking. We can place you and
your guide at specific points on the lakeshore from where
you can continue to hunt moose, caribou, and bear.
Big game hunting tags, which are supplied with your license
should be in your possession at all times. When the
kill is made, the tags have to be attached to the animals
immediately before the kill is moved. THIS
IS IMPORTANT! The kill is not
legal until you have attached the tags. If you should
be approached by a warden while hunting and are unable to
show your meat tags, you could be charged with an offence
under the wildlife regulations.
Each hunter should have a first aid kit and their own
treatment for any medical condition that they may have.
Hunters should bring rain gear, waterproof boots (11"
or higher), medium weight underwear, warm jacket and pants,
blaze head gear and a sleeping bag.
Hunting big game is permitted with a long bow or compound
bow and arrows in all areas under regular license.
Hunting game with a crossbow is prohibited. Bows must
have a minimum of 20 kg pull at full or peak draw.
Arrows used for big game must be tipped with a sharp metal
hunting head possessing two or more cutting surfaces, two
retaining a sharpened edge. It is unlawful to hunt big
game with any .22 calibre rifle or with any rifle using
ammunition with a bullet weight of less than 100 grams or a
muzzle energy less than 1500 foot pounds. Rifles in
the calibre 308 or 30-06 using a 150-180 grain bullet
reaching out to at least 200 yards for moose and something
less for caribou, is suggested. |
